Why don't fish live in trees? - Brigitte Herrmann on the potential

Brigitte Herrmann is a consultant, business coach, keynote speaker, author, and an expert in recognizing and activating potentials. She acquired her expert know-how through her many years of experience as an independent headhunter and potential consultant.

What was your biggest mistake?

Mistakes are great if you learn from them. For me, it was choosing a degree in engineering. Without a clear awareness of my talents and interests, I simply followed family tradition. It went well and everyone was happy, except me. That was my wake-up call. The learning effect? Discover what is inside you and realize where you truly want to go. This has been the core of my work for 20 years now - as a headhunter and as a potential consultant. So, this mistake was the foundation for my dream job. Does every person have potential? Yes, I experience that daily in my consulting work. There is much more potential in every person than we think. Especially in personnel matters, wrong or stereotypical filters prevent us from seeing the true potential that arises from individual strengths, talents, interests, competencies, and experiences. Unfortunately, many employers do not tap into this valuable resource. However, I am convinced that this is becoming more and more of a fundamental success factor in the working world. That's why I developed the concept of potential intelligence. Why don't fish live in trees? You are referring to my similarly titled presentation. With a twinkle in my eye, I would say because fish have much better sensors than humans and know very precisely what is 'not right' for them. They are simply not made for life in trees. Instead, they unfold their characteristics perfectly in water. It's the same with humans. Only when they have found 'their' element can they unleash their true potential and grow beyond themselves to excellence. What drives you every morning? As an optimistic and enthusiastic person, I simply love life and am curious about each day. At the same time, I look forward to my work because whether it's process consulting, recruiting, career counseling, or speeches - it fulfills me. It's just a lot of fun for me to accompany people and companies on their path to success.   For more information on the topic of potential, please visit: https://www.speakers-excellence.de/redner/brigitte-herrmann-selbstmarketing.html
