Empathy means having the ability to empathize. It's not just about being sensitive. It's about being able to put yourself in someone else's shoes. But that's only half the battle. Ultimately, what matters is how empathetically we behave. Often, we may have an understanding but fail to act on it. Empathy is truly a wonderful thing because it teaches us to read people. To quote Anais Nin: "We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are." So the big question is: do I recognize the projection I'm placing onto the other person?
