Do you also spontaneously think of "joy of life," "vitality," or "enthusiasm"?
Who wouldn't want to be full of energy and vitality? In reality, our batteries are mostly empty today. Too little sleep, unhealthy diet, and lack of exercise. In the evenings, we often just fall tired into bed and barely have enough energy left for a goodnight kiss. Too much stress and time pressure, too little rest and relaxation. So much to do, to consider, to decide.
We should learn to manage not only our time but also our energy.
If you want to be efficient and enjoy your days, it is wise to manage your energy reserves wisely and economically.
It is crucial which repertoire of "resources" a person can draw on in dealing with problems and stress, and how effectively they use these "self-techniques."
Consciously pay attention to your mental, ideal, emotional, and physical energy.
We could be doing significantly better:
- Mental Energy. Think in terms of solutions. Talking about problems creates problems. Talking about solutions creates solutions! Pay attention to the "WHY questions." Why questions focus on the past, waste your time and energy, and are not helpful to the matter at hand.
- Boost your self-esteem. Read the book "The Six Pillars of Self-Esteem" and learn from Nathaniel Branden how to become successful and content through a strong self. No judgment is more important than the one about ourselves.
- Practice acceptance. Acceptance, from Latin "accipere," means approving, accepting, endorsing. Do not confuse acceptance with consent! We waste so much precious energy by complaining and lamenting because we do not accept things/people as they are.
- Ideal Energy: Focus on the future. What is the purpose of your life? Mental clarity is like a refreshing shower: What is important to me? What do I want to happen? What do I enjoy doing the most? Let your needs and values guide you. Ask yourself: Do I have a "fulfilled" or a "filled" life?
- Emotional Energy. Our emotions determine the quality of our lives! Our brain produces positive hormones when we see a benefit/advantage in events. An exercise: Focus your attention on what you have achieved, not just on what you have not done. Celebrate even your smallest successes, everyday events, and encounters. Practice this for 6 weeks!
- Physical Energy: People who primarily work with their minds tend to neglect the care of their physical fitness. Move at least 60 to 90 minutes per week (minimum range), especially in the aerobic range (oxygen balance). Exercise slows down arousal and thus your stress. Because stress makes you aggressive, old, and sick!
If I am not for myself, who will be for me?
And if I am only for myself,
what am I then?
And if not now, when?
