The goal is in sight, the strategy is developed, and then the first setback happens. You treated yourself to a piece of cake, spent time playing on the computer - and now? Don't throw in the towel just yet, warns expert Michael Vaas. In this week, it happened: You had a glass of wine, skipped the sports group, and instead of going to the movies with your family, you spent the whole evening on the computer. You could now simply give up, arguing that you tried, but it just didn't work out. "Project 2017" will be crossed off, just like all the other projects in previous years. Yet, your experience is truly human. Our everyday life means that we cannot consistently stick to all our plans. Therefore, you won't achieve your goal just like that, you have to work on it every day. In other words: Motivate yourself anew every day, visualize what your success should look like, and take a small step towards it every day. It will help if you recall the reason for your intention. Brooding over things, getting caught up in self-blame, that would be the completely wrong way. Accept that some things didn't go optimally last week, but don't dwell on it. Refocus on your goal, resume your strategy, and get back into action. If something doesn't go according to plan, it doesn't mean you should deviate from your plan.
