Miriam Rickli, from your perspective, what are the reasons for a company event to hire an external moderator?Often, it simply appears more relaxed when a CEO can convey the most important information in the form of an interview rather than a speech. What do you see as your role in an event? As a moderator, I see myself primarily as the guiding thread of the event. I take the lead throughout the event so that the CEO has more time to focus on the guests. What is particularly important to you as a moderator? For me, thorough preparation for the event and understanding the company are crucial. During the event, I ensure lively participation with engaging moderation. What types of events do you moderate? My portfolio includes conferences, congresses, galas, panel discussions, award ceremonies, trade fairs, and interviews. So, I am quite versatile ;-) What is your personal goal on stage? To make an event a tangible experience while remaining authentic. However, the most important thing is for people to feel that I am genuinely part of their event – passion makes the difference. What is your area of expertise?I feel comfortable in various subject areas and moderate events on topics such as finance, AI, cybersecurity, Industry 4.0, marketing, or automotive. Regardless of industry and company size, the focus is currently on digitalization and its impacts. I have had the opportunity to lead many such events in the last 2-3 years. What fascinates you about your job? From boots at a construction machinery show, high heels on the red carpet, racing suit on the racetrack, to milking cows on a farm – the diversity knows no bounds. Moderating a variety of events and TV shows keeps it exciting for me, and I am always learning something new. Which event are you looking forward to the most? The most exciting event is always the next one coming up. I am personally excited to see what this year has in store for me ;) You also speak on stage about body language and presentation skills. What inspired you to do so?The key to success is often not what we say but how we say it. I am convinced that my audience can also learn to have a positive presence. I enjoy taking viewers on an informative and entertaining journey, sharing my own experiences from the past 10 years on stage.
