A systematic investment in our own health and well-being mobilizes untapped potential, which enhances individuals' competitiveness and leads to significant cost savings in everyday life. Or, to put it provocatively: What good is it to be motivated if our VO2 max, that is, the maximum oxygen intake, is equivalent to that of someone with asthma? When it becomes essential within a task area to give our best, we will consequently be able to mobilize too few energy reserves. Therefore, the balance between physical and mental, emotional, and social aspects is generally at the forefront. "Every company is only as good as the employees who fill it with life energy every day." Filippo Larizza Promoting success through health and thus providing preventive care is better than healing and also costs less. Today, it is important to invest in our health, especially because motivation, performance, and quality of life are affected. Modern humans have no time for exercise, but enough to watch three hours of TV every day. It is forgotten that exercise, like brushing teeth, must become part of our daily routine. Let's make room for movement in our daily lives! We can release new energies and let go of old energies, meaning we can recharge with new strength and reduce frustrations or lethargy. Almost every person is capable of moving, which is why I differentiate between sports, exercise, and fitness here. Many elderly people living in nursing homes no longer have the strength to help themselves, so they rely on external assistance. No matter how old we are, it is never too late to start moving. The body behaves similarly to our pension fund: if we pay enough in, we can also receive enough in old age. But how much is enough? Through regular, health-oriented endurance and strength training two to three times a week, we maintain or increase our cells. Our body consists of millions of cells that are broken down and also built up every day. Did you know that our body renews one billion cells per hour? From the age of 35, the body breaks down more cells than it builds. By moving regularly, we maintain these cells and can stay young into old age, even at 90 years old, and drink a cognac without trembling. Muscle cells are like the engine of a car. Here's a simple example: an Audi R8 with a very large and powerful engine can accelerate relatively quickly from 0 to 100 km/h. However, it also consumes a lot of fuel for this. Another car, for example, a Fiat 500 with a smaller engine, takes a bit longer to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h, but in return, it does not burn as much fuel as the Audi R8. This is exactly how our body works. By maintaining our engine, our body retains the power of an Audi R8 with a strong metabolism. So, ensure that our body does not become a Fiat 500. My father drove from southern Italy to Switzerland over 50 years ago. It was a little over 1,500 km, and it took him over 40 hours. The small Fiat 500 surely asked, "When will we finally arrive?" If we drive the same route today with an R8, it wonders when we are in Switzerland, "When will we finally get started?" This is how a trained or untrained body behaves. Many people are in top form at 30, and by 50, they are only functioning at 30%. Why is that? These individuals have successful careers, start families, and do not take enough time for themselves and their bodies. I don't mean going on an ego trip, no: Rather, maintain your fitness into old age. If you now sadly realize, "Oh, I'm already over fifty..." - no problem! It is never too late to start targeted exercise. My oldest coaching client is 89 years old, yes, exactly: 89! And she started just three years ago, having followed the exercise program on TV before. Today, she is in excellent condition for her age. Learn to invest in your health and gain new vitality. "Those who exercise simply feel better."
