The German Samurai: Jörg Gantert
Karate world champion Jörg Gantert spoke about the inner forces of human beings.
At the age of ten, Jörg Gantert was tormented and beaten up by two boys. He swore to himself, "This will never happen to me again." With unwavering perseverance, daily practice, and intense training, he started learning Karate and achieved his great goal 18 years later: the world champion title. On Monday, the man from Münster spoke about the inner forces that each of us can awaken within ourselves. He encouraged his audience in the packed Cloud Hall at the Germania Campus to accept a little pain and step out of their comfort zone. Through this, everyone can expand their personality.
The path out of the comfort zone can be realized through many small habits: taking the stairs more often instead of the elevator, choosing smoothies over more coffee, Gantert said. "A price always has to be paid," because "work comes before success." The "German Samurai" motivated his audience in the evening with small breathing exercises and experiencing their own imagination. When Gantert traveled to a Karate training camp in Tokyo at the age of 20, the Japanese Karate Grandmaster Shihan Kenro Kurasako taught him a key phrase: "Everything you pay attention to, strengthens," and "Neglect means liberation." When we think about horror scenarios, these thoughts paralyze us. They are forces that control us. "You have the choice," Gantert confirmed to his audience and recommended giving the brain the right images. He provided examples of how small things in relationships shape our attitude. Values and principles can act as an inner compass in difficult times to help with decision-making.
In Karate, fighters name the values associated with it before each training session: politeness, humility, patience, self-control, justice, helpfulness, courage, and above all, respect for each other. Gantert appealed to focus our thoughts on the here and now and to handle the vitality factors of nutrition, sleep, and rest more mindfully. Gantert expanded the phrase "Knowledge is power" to "The implementation of knowledge is power." He ended with a wish for each listener: "If the life of another person becomes a little better because of you, maybe this is the secret to a fulfilling life."
Gantert received prolonged applause for his entertaining 90-minute lecture, which conveyed the content in an engaging way through anecdotes, photos, and sketches. Afterwards, he signed his books, including his freshly printed work "Awaken the Power Within You." The series of knowledge impulses will continue on May 2nd with the neuroscientist Dr. med. V. Busch and his lecture on sensory overload and multitasking.
