Dr. med. Walter Kromm - Leadership in Times of Change

Dr. Walter Kromm discusses the importance of successful interactions, creating good feelings, corporate culture, and health challenges for executives at the Oberbayerisches Wissensforum. He emphasizes the significance of connectedness, self-awareness, and recognizing patterns for personal and organizational well-being. Participants can gain insights on influencing health and engagement, identifying barriers to interaction, and embracing change.

Dr. Walter Kromm at the 11th Oberbayerisches Wissensforum.

“Leadership in Times of Change - Working Together Successfully and Staying Healthy” is also your topic at the Oberbayerisches Wissensforum. What is it about? It's no longer so much about "Corporate Health Management" today, but rather about "Interaction Management", about the question: What knowledge and insights do people need to be able to deal with themselves and others in a self-responsible and meaningful way? So, it is crucial that relationship building succeeds? That is very important! Even the best doctor in the world could not contribute nearly as much to the team's health as the team itself. Successful interactions trigger exchange processes that would not otherwise occur: for example, the exchange of empowering resources and knowledge. If the interaction fails, it becomes a major barrier to growth and poses various health risks. And what creates good feelings? Actually, these are common sense things that unfortunately often fall short in everyday business life. Work must be appreciated. It feels good to be addressed on an equal footing, to know that I receive support and can trust. It is important to be able to co-create in connection with others and to be asked for my opinion on important decisions. These good feelings provide strength and resilience. They are, so to speak, resources against high stress. How important is corporate culture in this context? Companies are recognizing the benefits of an emotional connection to the company once again. Connectedness is the breeding ground for turning employees from mere bystanders into active and long-term engaged co-creators. When people feel connected to something, they want to maintain it. They want to contribute to common goals because they see a purpose in it. I have long been concerned with how connectedness can be created. Today, my answer is: People always feel connected when they have a good feeling. What are the health challenges for executives? If executives have the competence to organize the atmosphere in their team as described, it will also be beneficial for their own health. However, it also requires competence in one's own affairs. Many people no longer realize – in my experience – that time, leisure, love, and mindfulness are essential prerequisites for dealing with themselves and others in a self-responsible and meaningful way. Most people who have something similar to burnout see themselves as victims of circumstances. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes apparent that many unconsciously burn themselves out through their thinking, feeling, and behavior. What is unconscious, we cannot know at first. My task as a doctor is to help them recognize these patterns. What benefits can participants of the Oberbayerisches Wissensforum derive from your lecture? I want to support them in finding answers to the following questions: » How can one reliably influence the health and engagement of people in the company? » How can one recognize the barriers that prevent successful interaction? » What pitfalls in our minds stand in the way of change? » How can people become aware of what is truly important and what matters? The answers to these questions are often much closer than we think. But why don't we see them? What prevents us from recognizing the opportunities? Why is it so easy to ignore the benefits of successful interaction every day and so difficult to counteract? This is also part of my lecture.   You can find more information here: https://www.speakers-excellence.de/redner/walter-kromm-master-of-public-health.html
