"Money is dangerous and you must protect yourself from it!"
"No one thinks like that, Mr. Schröter..." Not with their logical mind - certainly not! But in our subconscious, there are countless sabotage programs lying dormant within us. "Eat up your plate so you can grow big and strong!" This program often leads us to overeat compared to our basic metabolic rate. "Be a good girl/boy!" It determines our ability to express needs. "When adults are talking, you should keep quiet!" This sometimes prevents us from expressing our opinions - even when someone is talking nonsense. We have many such programs.
You wouldn't believe how many people have the above quote in their minds. Of course, they are individual and not as directly to the point as stated here. Nevertheless, it affects anyone who is fundamentally unhappy with their financial situation. Anyone who takes out a consumer loan or uses their overdraft at the bank. Similarly, there are people who experience physical pain when they have to open their wallet, even though they have more than enough. The fear of impoverishment is just as burdensome as the fear of not surviving... Interesting, isn't it?
What we need to understand is that there is usually an unconscious thinking process that controls our current financial situation. We have long known that our unconscious programming guides the absolute majority of our actions. Some routines have developed through prolonged training, such as driving a car. Think about your first driving lesson. And now? Today, for example, as you drove to work, how many times did you brake? Can you remember? Unconsciously carried out - that's what I mean by this phenomenon. Okay, some might say, "not at all, Mr. Schröter!" But that is more of a nuanced attitude towards driving. And some programming is the result of an inner decision. Often, it's the first negative situation that required a quick reaction from us. Otherwise, something bad might have happened - and instantly programmed for life!
If these unconscious thinking processes now determine our actions, it would only be logical if they also determine our approach to, for example, money and our willingness to generate money. Please don't dismiss this theory right away as nonsense. Perhaps consider it theoretically plausible. Because it could be THE solution to your problems with money - in one form or another.
Let's make the topic of MONEY the most important topic for a short time and see what changes. In countless coaching sessions and many financial coaching seminars, I have explored and changed the beliefs and inner attitudes of my clients. What happens next leaves me in awe every time. Imagine running a marathon with a rubber band around your stomach that hinders your running. Now, there are a few successful individuals who work against it with superhuman strength, discipline, and motivation (and potentially get sick). And others who give up, settle for what's left. Some become unemployed, others organize themselves and form a group of complainers. Since there are so many of them, we already consider this condition normal. Normal doesn't mean "good." Normal just means that so many people are affected that the successful ones are exceptions. Alarming. There are far more people with financial worries than people who are happy when they think about their savings.
And yet, there are things you can do to change the situation:
- Learning to handle money rationally is essential. Many people were not taught by their parents to keep a household budget or calculate their current fixed costs - and certainly not in school. As a result, they don't know how much they need to earn to sustain their standard of living. Then they are just frustrated by the costs of life. Some just complain that the full shopping cart didn't use to cost so much...
- Examine your own thoughts for anomalies: What sayings about money do you know? Which ones do you agree with? This is a first hint at your inner attitude towards money.
- Identify the feelings that arise when you think about your current financial situation. What is the first thing that comes to mind when you see your current bank statement? What emotions are associated with spending money? Be careful! Feeling good about treating yourself is absolutely bad when the means are not there! What drives you to live beyond your means? Take a closer look at the quote at the very top!
- Unravel unconscious programming: There is a first negative reference experience with money. This experience has led you to a realization that you will follow for the rest of your life if you don't change it. It is usually not conscious to you and requires expert work. Perhaps there is a situation still in your consciousness. But whether it is the first one, you will recognize by whether things change when you address this situation. Sometimes it's the way we handle money that we adopt from our parents. Sometimes we also make our own decision that accompanies us for life.
If you want to seek help now, find someone who is knowledgeable about resolving money-related programming. Some hypnotists, mental trainers, or sometimes psychologists can help. There are also seminars that focus not only on the rational handling of finances.
