As an actress, I know that we are drawn to charismatic and expressive personalities. They become role models, enchant us, and give us energy. That's why we enjoy being in the company of charismatic and energetic people. It fills us with joy when they share their energy with us and we get to bask in their light, allowing one of their glowing sparks to ignite us. It's a wonderful, perhaps even transformative feeling.
Charisma and charisma are attractive to us as individuals as well as to our business. We know that we can reach people not only through our content, but especially through our charisma, be it the audience, customers, or business partners.
A strong aura of sovereignty leads to a perception of competence and leaves the counterpart feeling safe or gaining an advantage by joining the charismatic person. A confident, self-assured, and charismatic presence conveys the conviction and ability to successfully assert one's own position.
In the famous first moment, we unconsciously decide whether someone is interesting to us or not (although this impression can be corrected in the following moments, the first perception often remains and only fades slowly). A rather unimportant topic can become appealing to the viewer through charisma and a captivating presentation. A superficial topic will never open the ears and hearts of the counterpart with weak charisma. However, the opposite works (at least for a short time). Because a strong aura affects our emotions and initially sparks interest.
Aura and presence are of course a relevant topic for me as an actress. As a performance coach, it is important for me to support my clients not only in chasing pure impact, but also to involve heart and soul and to practice freely in self-expression.
As soon as people step onto a stage or stand in the spotlight, a lot is revealed. Tucholsky rightly said: "On stage, a person is more exposed than in a swimming pool."
It becomes visible how much one stands by oneself, how much energy one radiates, or whether one hides behind a "curtain." Whether the person really shows themselves or rather wants to hide... That's why I start each of my coaching sessions with a performance. This establishes the status quo and is our basis for work, because everything becomes visible here, including what we do not show, conceal, or want to hide.
Energy is visible, often unconsciously, to many viewers, but clearly recognizable to me.
Can energy, or aura, be enhanced?
Yes!! Aura is the sum of our overall physical energy: our soul energy, our vitality and health, our heart energy, our love and kindness, our mental strength, and our humor. Energy work and retreats (such as power sources or CreActivity) can help and provide energy. Nature alone provides energy... it is about recognizing your own sources of energy.
Love, faith, and spirituality are strong sources for those who use them. By expanding the inner space that harbors these qualities, an intensification of aura and charisma can be generated.
Egomaniacal performers may be loud, grand, intense, and sexy. They may shine externally, but often lack the radiance of inner luminosity.
A deep connection with oneself and the world, nature, and the universe makes up a large part of our aura on a subtle level. A wealth of inner values such as empathy, courage, warmth, and love enhances our aura.
Aura is the energetic sum of our work and attitude towards life, the love for ourselves and the people on our planet. By being willing to share ourselves and our issues, transparency is created, allowing our light to shine outward.
Aura is fueled by our energy, balance, and flow. It reflects who we are, how we live, and what we are passionate about. When you are physically and mentally open, transparent, your light can shine outward.
We actors work intensively on our relaxation and ourselves to enable transparency.
Technically speaking, by "expanding" your inner space and filling the outer space, you can increase your impact.
Energy always has a direction and a corresponding state of tension. We distinguish: Under-tension, Eu- or Well-tension, and Over-tension.
Here is a simple but absolutely correct phrase in English: "Be relaxed but not lax. Be intense but not tense!"
The energy directions:
-
Introverted (here most of it sticks with you, works for the camera, but weakly for the stage).
-
Extroverted can reach more strongly into and across the room.
-
Concentric energy, like a ring or an energetic lake in which the charismatic person bathes (Jesus, Buddha, Gandhi, etc.).
Here are now techniques and tips on how you can become more visible:
-
Have the courage to show yourself in your whole truth.
-
Show yourself in your insecurity and vulnerability as well.
-
Breathe into your center.
-
Feel the ground beneath your feet.
-
Open your body, take up space, both internally and externally.
-
Direct the energy outward, towards the audience (especially important for introverts).
-
Enjoy seeing your counterpart, your audience, and expressing yourself.
-
Give space to your voice and body.
-
Turn on your inner spotlight.
-
Fill the space with your light.
-
Radiate and feel illuminated.
-
Be your message and convey it with enthusiasm and love.
-
Use your stage fright as an energy booster.
-
Know your intention, know why you are speaking.
-
Enjoy yourself and take your time.
-
Give yourself fully and unconditionally.
-
Fully devote yourself to the topic and the people.
-
Use visualizations, visions, and affirmations.
-
Work with your inner animal, Animal Exercise (specific exercises from acting).
Our adversary is fear
"Fear eats the soul". (R.W. Fassbinder)
The fear of speaking freely, being in the spotlight, showing oneself, and being visible. This is accompanied by beliefs such as "I'm not good enough," "I'm not interesting enough," "I'm not ready yet," "Others are better/farther/greater" (comparison).
These beliefs keep us in the comfort zone, in the frustration zone, and reinforce fear. Because we are more blocked than motivated and do not start!
As a result, there are no successes, no (positive) self-confidence, and above all, no self-assurance. Instead, we remain in the same modest self-perception. As with everything: We learn and gain through practice.
Ways out of fear:
Just start!! Get moving - "Those who move will move something."
Go into emotion, into experience, out of the mind and into the body.
Enter your enthusiasm, your creative power, your PowerAct.
Magnify your enthusiasm, love, devotion, vision/mission, focus, and creative power (creativity).
Live the essence of your ideas, desires, visions, and mission.
For now, it doesn't matter what the outside world says. Enjoy yourself and your topic and experiment with it, play with it. Let the inner child in you out.
In connection with your heart (your love), your radiance begins, the cornerstone of your aura and your new self-confidence.
Thus, fear can turn into positive excitement. It is the spice, the chili for your strong performance.
Your aura is the most beautiful invitation
