St. Goar, June 2017. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of its conference villa, the Romantik Hotel Schloss Rheinfels has invested around 150,000 euros in its technical equipment and renovation. In addition, the four-star superior hotel invited more than 80 guests from industry, politics, art, and associations to an anniversary celebration. Already at its opening in 1992, the villa - which boasts three daylight event rooms, two meeting rooms, a break foyer, a conference reception with secretarial service, and 15 guest rooms on a 300-square-meter area - was considered "visionary" as it was equipped from the beginning with state-of-the-art technology and innovative concepts. The possibility of conference live broadcasts worldwide was still rare in the 1990s and attracted renowned companies, as did Germany's first open-air conference room - the "Amphitrium" - with an attached nature and adventure trail. The XEROX Communication World, a multimedia preparation room for trainers and seminar organizers, also caused a sensation. "We have renovated and invested continuously - not for nothing, our villa has been consistently showered with awards and accolades and has been the number one conference hotel in Germany several times," says Gerd Ripp, owner of the Romantik Hotel Schloss Rheinfels. "For the anniversary, it has received a facelift, various technological innovations, and is now well prepared for the future." An event every second day - continuously for 25 years The construction of the seminar center in 1992 cost three million German marks - from today's perspective, "a quite manageable amount," according to Ripp. But the investment paid off, as since the opening, around 4,800 conferences, seminars, workshops, training sessions, or presentations have been held in the villa - which averages to one event every two days. "The number of hotel employees has doubled since then to 90, and we even train event management assistants," Ripp continues. "In many areas, we have been and still are pioneers here in the Middle Rhine Valley. Therefore, it was time to adapt the villa to modern media possibilities while still maintaining its Art Nouveau charm." Modern technology meets Art Nouveau. The new technology in the villa's event rooms comes from digital4home (www.digital4home.de) and includes a high-resolution WLAN projector in the ceiling, a modern media board, and iPad presentation technology, among others. With a smile, Werner Fritzen-Winkel - a trainer from the early days in the former conference villa and also a guest at the anniversary celebration - remembered the pre-digital era when Andreas E. Ludwig, director and deputy manager at Rheinfels, as well as a trained trainer and speaker, used an outdated overhead projector in his lecture "Foresight - The Generational Change" to show how the world has changed in the past 25 years. The new furniture is provided by the quality supplier neuland (www.neuland-raumkonzepte.com), as in 1992. Ripp: "Everything is new, but the style from back then deliberately remains unchanged, for example, the integration of Goethe's color theory that promotes learning." Fresh air also blows in the entrance, foyer, and break area of the villa, where old Art Nouveau furniture, a new carpet, and many details such as a candy bar ensure an optimal break from learning and working.
