Recognizing one's own potential and developing charisma - self-realization

The text discusses the importance of self-awareness and understanding one's talents and vocations beyond external influences. It emphasizes the need to align with inner motivations for personal development and fulfillment, rather than succumbing to external pressures.

Recognizing one's own potential and developing charisma - self-realization

  • Self-realization beyond inner and outer boundaries

In many assessments, companies conduct elaborate potential analyses. The goal is to find out what someone is capable of. Some people feel almost like victims in these testing procedures. However, for every ambitious person, one of the most important tasks of future-oriented self-management would be to strive for clear self-awareness. One should try to find out who they really are beyond all external suggestions, ideas, and obligations, and where, when, and under what circumstances their own energy pulsates and flows most strongly. This endeavor is about recognizing and understanding the inner personal motivational structure. Three levels can be distinguished:

  1. The level of talent
  2.
  3. The level of vocation
  4.
  5. The level of needs and motives shaped by the environment
This distinction is not always easy but nonetheless important. In the worst case, the third level, shaped by external influences, could suppress and overshadow the underlying talents and vocations. This would lead to a permanent reduction in personal energy levels as well as to frustration and depression. For self-motivation, one's own talent and vocational energy are of essential importance. They are the energy channels that someone brings into life from birth. Both are beyond what can be explained psychologically through later influences. They are so firmly anchored in a personality as an inner inclination and certainty that they assert themselves throughout life and manifest in various forms repeatedly. Therefore, potential development and personal development begin with the effort to gain clarity about one's vocation and talents. What am I here for? What do I see as the essential main task of my life? What excites me repeatedly and what do I find easy to do repeatedly? Often, as an adult, one can best recognize their vocation by looking at what they have already done. By distilling the commonality of the underlying impulse and expressing it in an abstract term, one has recognized the underlying motive. The difficulty lies in distinguishing the superficially factual from the underlying connecting aspects. This requires a certain level of abstraction. A key criterion for differentiation is that talent and vocational energy are usually accompanied by joy, while "suffered" influences are often accompanied by fears and feelings of lack or by feelings of happiness derived from external recognition. This can be compared to two artists: one creates entirely independently of the marketability of their works, driven by their own impulse, while the other artist values the good marketability of their works, continuously copying the best-selling ones and losing their own ideas in the process. Self-realization often conflicts with regulatory systems. External systems usually try to impose linearly predictable behaviors. Internally, they manifest as fears, guilt, shame, feelings of inferiority, and longing that attempt to manipulate oneself without further external sanctions and hinder the inner talents and vocations belonging to the soul. So always ask yourself first: "What does my heart want and what does my soul want?" You can then check whether externally given desires, duties, and requirements come to mind or whether you can truly feel from within that this is about your higher vocation. Be assured that this does not necessarily require an exit from existing environments but can be brought to many or even almost all places in the world and points of your own life. By living more strongly from and in this energy, you will develop the persuasive power and charisma that is called charisma.
