Silicon Germany - How We Achieve the Digital Transformation

"Silicon Germany" by Christoph Keese wins German Business Book Award 2016 for its insights on digital transformation. Keese urges German companies to adapt to the digital era to avoid falling behind. The book offers a critical yet hopeful perspective on the future.

Silicon Germany - How We Achieve the Digital Transformation

With the German Business Book Award 2016, one of the most prestigious honors in German business literature went to Christoph Keese's critical wake-up call "Silicon Germany - How We Will Achieve the Digital Transformation" this year. The jury selected the book as the best business book of the year from a shortlist of ten titles. Comprised of distinguished representatives from business and academia, the high-caliber jury chose the book because they consider it to be the best contribution of the year to the discussion on the major topic of digital transformation. A critical contribution, yet with perspective. According to Christoph Keese, CEO of Axel Springer, German companies are focusing too much on old strengths, thereby missing the connection to the digitized world summit. Germany stands at a crossroads between Silicon Valley and a technology museum. The lag can still be caught up with – for now. It is not too late for the digital transformation, but for that, the upheaval must be carried out now and with expertise and determination. "Only those who know how to do it can achieve the turnaround," says Keese. Keese's practical test of the economy and his concrete, vivid, and convincing explanations make the book a "must-read for every decision-maker" for the jury. "We award the book as the best business book of the year because the author engagingly and clearly analyzes, using examples from all industries, what needs to be done so that the German economy is not left behind," explained jury chairman Gabor Steingart, publisher of Handelsblatt. "The book offers diagnosis, hope, and healing in one. The author has achieved a great feat. This book can change the lives of thousands of companies." The award was presented on Friday evening at a festive gala as part of the Frankfurt Book Fair. The author, an economist, journalist, and publishing manager at Axel Springer, has emerged as a leading authority on digital transformation in recent years and already landed a bestseller in 2014 with the predecessor "Silicon Valley - What Is Coming from the Most Powerful Part of the World." Experience Christoph Keese live at the 11th Cologne Knowledge Forum on September 21, 2018! Tickets & information are available HERE.
