Losing Weight, More Exercise, and the Beloved New Year's Resolutions
Today, science confirms what has long been assumed in naturopathy: the psyche can influence physical health, even though the exact connections have not yet been explained by science. From this realization, it can be inferred that one's own mind is the most important tool in terms of health and well-being. With the right attitude and the application of the FIRK method, almost anything is achievable.
Healthy Eating and More Exercise
We all know what constitutes a healthy diet: fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meat, low-fat dairy products, nuts, seeds, high-quality oils, herbs, tea, spices, and water are essential for physical health. It is also widely recognized that exercise and plenty of movement are good for our health. We eat healthily and exercise because we know that we are doing something good for our bodies. However, health is also a matter of attitude, so it's all in the mind.
Where we focus our priorities influences whether we lead a healthy and happy life. Do you remember the last time you ate something unhealthy? Maybe a large ice cream sundae or a piece of cake? How did you feel? And how about the next day? If you savored the treat on your tongue and simply enjoyed the taste, you most likely belong to those for whom an unhealthy dessert remains an exception.
However, if you made harsh self-reproaches because of it, chances are high that you will soon reach for unhealthy foods again to suppress the negative emotions you felt due to consuming the calorie bomb in the first place. Paradoxical as it may sound, it is actually quite common for feelings of guilt after consuming an unhealthy treat to also trigger a repeated craving for more unhealthy foods.
You need to realize that it is completely okay to indulge occasionally, as long as you generally lead a healthy lifestyle. Feelings of guilt and self-reproach only result from a bad mood.
According to research, various actions and emotions in the body lead to the release of different substances that influence our behavior and mood. For example, during exercise, endorphins are released, triggering feelings of well-being. Enjoy these feelings when they occur and maintain a positive outlook on life. This way, you will be more motivated to exercise regularly, thereby promoting your health. This sets off a cycle that has a positive impact on health.
Positive Feelings
Positive feelings can initiate health-promoting changes. Negative feelings, on the other hand, have the potential to trigger unhealthy processes. New research shows that too much stress can lead to inflammation, which in turn can lead to diseases. So, it does seem that negative feelings can make us sick.
Scary, isn't it? However, there is no need to worry. Occasional negative emotions are part of human nature. What matters is how we deal with them. You should avoid unnecessary stress, bad moods, and negative thought patterns, and learn to transform negatives into positives.
Let's illustrate this again with an example from the food sector. When you eat an unhealthy treat, negative feelings may prevail. However, with a positive attitude, you are able to break through such negative thought patterns.
Be aware that your health depends not only on your body but also on the complex human psyche. In general, with the right attitude, you can achieve anything. You will be surprised at how suddenly you start to see life more positively.
Health, exercise, and fitness cannot be taken as a pill or prescribed by a doctor, but you can actively do something about it. The more conscious the handling of your own life energy and the better the knowledge of your strengths and talents, the better you can develop them. This can increase performance and openness to change, which in my opinion leads to a more fulfilling life, as a person is better and more successful in harmony with their desires and goals.
