Psychological Principles for More Success in the Continuing Education Business
In the continuing education industry, there are many remarkable individuals who possess high methodological and professional competence, but unfortunately fail miserably as speakers! Unfortunately! On the other hand, there seem to be types whose superficiality is almost annoying, yet they achieve high six-figure revenues every year in the same industry. How is this possible? Is it luck or are there a few cheap marketing tricks that lead to these successes? The honest answer is shocking and painful for many! But before I confront you with bitter truths, I want to reveal to you how I discovered them for myself. As a psychologist, I am familiar with both sides of the continuing education business: Serious existential struggles and the joy of a successful and fulfilling business! A few years ago, I also experienced how difficult it is to establish oneself in the continuing education industry. Although I was one of the top 10 graduates of my study year and had undergone countless additional training courses, I was initially hardly booked as a trainer or speaker. And when things finally started to pick up, I was able to earn acceptable fees, but overall and on an annual average, my income was rather meager.
Added Value through Uniqueness
In the best psychological tradition, I then put my training business and myself on the couch to analyze why I couldn't make the breakthrough! In doing so, I discovered psychological principles that I now apply in the market with proven great success and pass on to interested colleagues in coaching sessions and seminars. Attention: For me, it's not about substanceless self-promotion or deceitful marketing tricks! It's not a strategy for quick money and instant fame, but a path that starts at the core of your personality! However, it leads to sustainable results with added value! My analysis shows that most speakers and trainers who are not satisfied with their current economic results suffer from the same syndrome: The invisible self!
Stop Playing Hide and Seek!
Why do so many trainers and speakers hide behind their topics, competencies, and memberships? In most cases, these apparent trademarks are anything but unique, but often interchangeable! However, those who have the courage to show their personality with all its highs and even some lows succeed in touching people. Those who make their true selves visible can conquer the big stages and reach many people. Once this is achieved, a suction effect occurs: Inquiries and assignments come automatically! To activate this automatism, it is essential to work on one's own personality, a clear message, and the power of our impact. It is necessary to discard familiar ideas and bravely take new paths. It is sobering to observe that trainers and speakers, who constantly preach openness to change, stubbornly cling to their own unsuccessful concepts. Only after I went through a painful process, made difficult decisions, and found my true self, did opportunities open up for me that were previously at best wishful thinking, such as being able to work as a co-moderator on a psychological TV show on Sat.1 since February 2017.
Get Out of Mediocrity! Into the Spotlight!
To achieve this, one of the most important keys is the ability to inspire large groups with one's own stories and insights. Depending on one's personality, this can be achieved through different means. The more introverted individual can create visibility as a diligent author, while the extraverted one finds their audience with inspiring appearances in the media and on big stages. Only those who overcome the syndrome of the "Invisible Self" will be able to unleash their full potential as trainers and speakers.
