Die Kunst der Erfahrung
The Art of Experience – Designing Experiences for Moments that Change and Move Fabian Seewald is a bridge builder between art and business. With DUNDU – The Giants of Light, he travels the world's largest stages, enchanting a wide audience with innovative and creative performances: During his civilian service in Mexico, he experienced the transformative potential of art in the social circus with young people and lives by his credo: "Art Changes People & People Change the World." Seewald has now taken on a new challenge: As Co-Founder and Experience Designer at SeeArts, he supports companies and organizations in creating meaningful encounters with "Elevating Experiences." We are in a time of change. After 2.5 eventless years due to global challenges, "Life is Live" is now on the agenda. However, in an era of inflation and labor shortages, production costs for technology, catering, location, and personnel are significantly higher than before the pandemic. Therefore, it is now more important than ever to clearly define the goal of an event and use creative vision to allocate limited resources for sustainable live marketing, in order to meet the global responsibility of an event and integrate new aspects such as employer branding into the design process. What experience in the event context has moved and touched you the most in the last 12 months? Was it a festival or concert visit? An exciting product launch, a special culinary experience, or an emotional private occasion like a wedding or a family vacation in nature with sun and sea? It is the moments of shared emotions that stay in our memory, and a paradigm shift has been looming for some time, placing the value of experiences above material possessions. Welcome to the Experience Economy. The "Experience Economy" stands for an economy based on experiences. Today, customers or guests are willing to pay for unique, unforgettable experiences rather than just for the pure service or product. There is a revolution underway: we are no longer defined by what we own, but rather by the sum of our experiences. Every company is therefore challenged to question its own value proposition and expand the transformation from a product and service focus to the customer experience. From more effective transactions and efficiency gains to unforgettable moments in the flow: Time spent enjoying together ultimately guides us on our transformational journey through life. With Joy, Flow, and Togetherness on the journey from Mega-Trends to Mega-Needs: The often technologically driven mega-trends such as VR, AI, or robotics represent a time in which we humans can once again focus on more human factors. Looking beyond or zooming in on human needs leads us to the Mega-Needs for encounters and events: Joy, Flow, and Togetherness. Joy represents the happiness brought about by the experience and also the inner peace, while Flow signifies complete immersion and concentration on the present experience, allowing us to enter a peak performance mode. Togetherness, or connectedness, is the exponential factor in the equation, fostered by shared experiences and interactions with others, where our co-creative potential becomes palpable. In this triad, moving and transformative moments arise. With the SeeArts Play Zone, we create play and experience spaces where this fusion can be experienced, and we also conduct research based on the latest findings in neuroscience on how this joy of play contributes to the success of an event. The Experience Economy meets the Arts: Artistic Interventions with Added Value Joe Pine described in his book "The Experience Economy" at the turn of the millennium the 4 E's as core aspects of the experience economy between active and passive participation and the tension between immersion and absorption: entertainment, education, escapism, and aesthetics in sensory interaction for the experience. As artists and creatives, we see a greater contribution that art can make to the economy in the event context in the space "Beyond Entertainment," which is also reflected in the Arts-Value-Matrix: A pure stage format with a great artist or speaker only entertains the guests. It becomes exciting when they can co-creatively become part of the story, and in new formats, there are artistic interventions that inspire, enable learning on different levels, and transform: "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up." (Pablo Picasso) In this context, the use of art is essential to create profound and dynamic experiences that move and transform, providing space for shared creativity: From puppetry workshops where the team finds a common rhythm to improvisational theater techniques that help deal spontaneously with complex situations, to large-group actions like creating a collective visual or audible artwork. We invite you to a creative dance in resonance with the other. We are aware that conference rooms are often still geared towards traditional formats (speaker-audience), but precisely for this reason, we are seeking new ways for experiential spaces that resonate with the spirit of the times and unconventional formats for more humanity.
