The topic of leadership is more current than ever: especially in times of crisis, it requires leaders who provide guidance to their employees and are capable of inspiring people. A people-centered and individual leadership behavior plays an increasingly important role in both leadership tasks and tools. The times of simply being a superior (hopefully) are over.
Drawing from the interplay of my years of experience as a leader, entertainer, and musical lead actor, I know which success principles apply in leadership that we can utilize from the world of stages and music. Why else would people flock to stadiums and sing songs at the top of their lungs? There must be something that unleashes such energies.
In the following, I would like to share with you how you, as a leader, can "sound good" and from my perspective, what the top 5 skills are to turn employees into fans:
(C)ompetent:
Technical and methodological know-how is a hygiene factor - it usually only stands out when there is a lack of competence. And no: a leader does not need to have the highest technical expertise in the team.
(L)passionate:
Know your "why." What drives you to inspire people in leadership. Only when you are passionate can you ignite others.
(A)uthentic:
Do not play a role, but embody it with your personality. Just like good performers on stage. Be humanly perceptible and tangible.
(N)curious:
Be genuinely interested in people. Know your audience.
(G)emotionally:
Create emotional and empathetic experiences. This is why people love concert experiences and music. Emotions unleash unexpected energies.
With this SOUND, you will succeed in striking the right chord with your employees and arousing resonance and enthusiasm. One thing is clear: before you can step onto a stage, rehearsal and training are necessary. As a leader, you are constantly on stage, whether in one-on-one conversations, in front of your team, or in the company. Therefore, try out everything I have described before. I am sure: rehearsals, recurring actions, and reflection will ensure that you "sound good" to people. I wish you much joy and energy for that.
