Prof. Dr. Hendrik Müller combines academic expertise with many years of experience in business, consulting, and corporate communications. As a professor of business ethics and corporate communications at Fresenius University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg, he addresses the issues that are of particular concern to companies today: How can businesses operate sustainably? What responsibilities do companies bear? And how can artificial intelligence be used in a meaningful, sustainable, and responsible way?
For companies, associations, and event organizers, Hendrik Müller is thus a sought-after expert on business ethics, sustainability, corporate responsibility, digitalization, and artificial intelligence. His strength lies in his ability to clearly link complex societal and technological developments to specific challenges facing the business world.
Current Topics: AI, Sustainability, and Responsibility
Hendrik Müller is currently focusing in particular on the ethics of artificial intelligence, sustainable AI, and the question of how companies can combine technological innovation with responsibility. Together with other experts, he is the author of the textbook *Sustainable Artificial Intelligence*, which covers topics such as resource-efficient AI, large language models, and the ethics of sustainability in AI.
In addition, Müller publishes and speaks on topics such as corporate responsibility, sustainability management, digitalization, business ethics, and social change. The impact of digital transformation on businesses and the retail sector is also among his areas of expertise.
From the Bertelsmann Group to Academia
After earning his doctorate in 2000, Hendrik Müller began his professional career at the Bertelsmann Foundation, first as an assistant in the Executive Board office and later as a project manager for the Berlin projects. He then taught at the University of Oxford. Subsequent positions took him to the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) and back to Bertelsmann, where he worked in the Knowledge and Education division.
Since 2013, Müller has been working as a freelance consultant and university lecturer in Hamburg. At Fresenius University of Applied Sciences, he serves as a professor of business ethics. His academic and publishing work focuses on applied ethics, sustainability, corporate responsibility, and, increasingly, on ethical issues surrounding artificial intelligence and digitalization.
