Vita

Klaus Reinhardt served in the Bundeswehr for 41 years. He led at all command levels, from platoon to company, battalion, brigade, corps, and army group. In the 1980s, he was adjutant to the then Minister of Defense, Dr. Manfred Wörner. As head of the Planning Department at the Federal Ministry of Defense, he was responsible for the merger of the Bundeswehr with the former National People's Army of the GDR in 1990. In the same year, he assumed command of the Bundeswehr Command and Staff College, the highest training institution of the German armed forces, and transformed it into a strategic-operational think tank. For his services in opening the gates to the states of Eastern Europe, the University of Budapest awarded him an honorary doctorate.
