Vita

Prof. Dr. Clemens Fuest studied economics at the universities of Bochum and Mannheim. He received his doctorate from the University of Cologne in 1994 with a thesis on "A Fiscal Constitution for the European Union." In 2001, he completed his habilitation at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich on the relationship between tax policy and unemployment. In 2001, Clemens Fuest accepted a chair in economics at the University of Cologne, a position he held until 2008. During this time, he was a visiting professor at the Luigi Bocconi University of Milan in 2004. From 2008 to 2013, he was Professor of Corporate Taxation and Research Director of the Centre for Business Taxation at the University of Oxford. Since March 1, 2013, Clemens Fuest has been President and Scientific Director of the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim. This position includes a professorship in economics at the University of Mannheim.
