Dietmar Ossenberg is a long-standing ZDF foreign correspondent, TV journalist and TV presenter. After graduating in political science and sociology at the University of Mannheim, he initially worked as a reporter in ZDF's domestic politics department. In 1981, he moved to Hessischer Rundfunk, ARD, as studio manager and presenter. In 1990, he returned to ZDF, where he presented the programs “blickpunkt” and “DDR auf dem Weg”, among others. He also covered the 2nd Gulf War as a reporter. In 1992, he took over the management and moderation of “auslandsjournal”. From 1994 to 2001 and from 2009 to 2015, Ossenberg was ZDF correspondent in Cairo, responsible for the Arab world. In recent years, he has reported on the revolution in Egypt and the civil wars in Libya and Syria. In 2015, he was honored with the coveted Grimme Prize for his outstanding achievements as a foreign correspondent.
