Donald Bäcker, known as “ARD's weatherman”, is the weather expert. Donald Bäcker began working as a weather observer at the Neuruppin meteorological station in 1984, which he managed from 1990 to 1997. In order to be able to forecast the weather, he was trained as an aviation weather consultant at the German Weather Service and the German Armed Forces as part of a technical college course. In order to convey his enthusiasm for the weather via the media, he switched to the private weather service Meteofax (Kachelmann). There he worked as a meteorologist for the production and presentation of weather reports for radio and television at SFB, MDR and RBB. Since 2005 he has been working as a freelancer, presenting and creating mainly the weather programs for the ARD Morgenmagazin, which received the German Television Award. In his presentations and moderations, Donald Bäcker inspires his participants not only with understandable and yet professionally experienced weather and climate topics, but also with his lively and entertaining presentation style.
