Prof. Ernst Ulrich von Weizsäcker is one of the pioneers of sustainable business. He studied physics and earned his doctorate in biology. Prof. von Weizsäcker's roles have included directorships at the UN Center for Science and Technology in New York and director of the Institute for European Environmental Policy in Bonn, London, and Paris. He was president of the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment, and Energy, a member of the German Bundestag and chairman of the Enquete Commission on "Globalization of the World Economy," as well as chairman of the Committee on the Environment. At the University of California, Ernst Ulrich von Weizsäcker was dean and professor at the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management. He has received, among other honors, the German Environmental Award and, in 2008 and 2009, the Grand Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany from Federal President Horst Köhler. Prof. Ernst Ulrich von Weizsäcker delivers concise lectures, drawing on extensive knowledge and international experience, which he presents in an easily understandable and structured manner.
