Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Dudenhöffer studied economics at the University of Mannheim (1972-1977) and received his doctorate there with distinction (summa cum laude) in 1983. From 1985 to 1996, he held various management positions at international car manufacturers (Opel, Porsche, Peugeot, Citroen). From 1996 to 2008, he held a professorship for marketing and business management at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences, where he founded the CAR-Center Automotive Research in 2000. Since 2008, Dudenhöffer has held the chair for general business administration and automotive management at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Duisburg-Essen, where he also heads the CAR-Center Automotive Research.
Dudenhöffer is one of the most internationally cited scientists and experts in the automotive industry. Numerous research projects, including those on electromobility, are funded by federal ministries. He organizes the annual CAR Symposium, a major congress with more than 1,200 participants and top international executives from the automotive industry.
