Professor of "Databases and Artificial Intelligence" at the University of Ulm, simultaneously director of the Research Institute for Applied Knowledge Processing (FAW/n) Ulm, President of the Senate of Economics in Bonn, Vice President of the Ecosocial Forum Europe in Vienna, and member of the Club of Rome. He studied mathematics and economics (RWTH Aachen University, University of Karlsruhe), completing his habilitation in mathematics at RWTH Aachen University in 1982. His research focuses on global problems, learning organizations, intelligent technical systems, big data and the Internet of Things, risk management, questions of personal and system responsibility, environmentally friendly mobility, sustainable development, overpopulation problems, global food security, climate and energy, and the regulation of the global financial system.
