Prof. Dr. Hans-Jörg Bullinger

Hans-Jörg Bullinger was President of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft in Munich from 2002 to 2012. The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft promotes and conducts application-oriented research for the direct benefit of industry and for the benefit of society. Hans-Jörg Bullinger paved the way for the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft to become an increasingly important driver of technical innovations in the field of sustainable development. As President of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Hans-Jörg Bullinger saw himself as a lobbyist for increased investment in research and development, a bridge builder between science and industry, and a pioneer of future social developments. His motto: Research must always be clearly focused on people as the measure of technology. Hans-Jörg Bullinger, considered one of the most distinguished political advisors in the field of science, also contributed his experience to the twelve-member "Council for Innovation and Growth," founded in May 2006, which advised Chancellor Angela Merkel on future issues.
