Henri Leconte won nine singles and six doubles titles during his professional career. In 1990, he convincingly won the Davis Cup with the French team against the USA. His greatest success as a singles player at a Grand Slam tournament came in 1988 at the French Open in Paris, where he reached the final, but lost to Mats Wilander. Henri Leconte was "the clown" of international professional tennis in the 1980s. He even joked with the audience during important matches. In his lectures, he taught his listeners, in his usual way, how to, for example, surpass themselves.
