James "Jamie" Trevor Oliver worked in his father's pub "The Cricketers" during his school days. After leaving school, Oliver learned to cook at college in London. During his training with top chef Gennaro Contaldo, he met the German TV chef Tim Mälzer more than 15 years ago. Jamie Oliver was then discovered for television in the "River Cafe". His first TV show "The Naked Chef" immediately brought him international success. In subsequent episodes of his shows, he increasingly addressed the social problems of England. In the show "Jamie's Kitchen" he opened his restaurant "Fitfteen" in London to offer unemployed and socially disadvantaged young people a chance to learn to cook and work in the catering industry. With the campaign "Feed me better" he wanted to contribute to improving the quality of food in England's school canteens. Other campaigns followed, drawing attention to the often poor quality of our food.
