Behavioral scientist with expertise in neurobiology and creativity expert
As a behavioral scientist with a PhD in neurobiology and over twenty years of experience in brain research, I have developed a profound understanding of our brain. My expertise ranges from basic neurobiological processes to the development of creative potential. Through my books and articles, including the renowned work “The Creative Brain” published by Springer, I have established myself as a leading expert on creativity. I know how to convey complex relationships in an understandable and entertaining way and inspire my audience.
Scientific career and publications
My scientific career began with my studies in behavioral research, which I successfully completed with a doctorate in neurobiology. During my many years of work in brain research, I was able to gain significant insights into the functioning of the brain. As the author of several books and numerous articles, I have made my specialist knowledge accessible to a wide audience and presented complex topics in an understandable way.
Creativity expert and speaker
I am passionate about researching and promoting creative processes in the brain. In my lectures, I show how our environment shapes our brain and how we can make optimal use of its creative resources. Through my unique combination of scientific expertise and comprehensible communication, I am able to inspire my audience and provide new food for thought.
Why you should book me as a speaker
The brain is fascinating and diverse and offers many more topics that expand our view of the world and our knowledge of ourselves. My two core topics are:
1. how does creativity arise in the brain?
In this context, I can explain what characterizes creative personalities and why everyone has the potential to become creative. I explain how an idea comes about and what conditions we can create to make this happen more often. At a time of rapid change, when companies are recognizing creativity as vital to their survival, I explain how they can maintain and nurture this valuable resource in their employees.
2. how does our mental health and performance depend on our environment?
There is nothing we can do about our genes. So how much more sensible it is to focus on how our diverse environment influences the brain! Because this influence is enormous, and it allows everyone to become more balanced, healthier, happier and to enrich their inner mental world.

Press reviews of “The Creative Brain”
“In his work, the author makes use of a narrative trick - he sends the reader, together with Commissario Prefrontale, on a seven-day search for the secrets that surround the flash of inspiration [...] like in a detective story, the twists and turns of neurobiological creativity research are presented, and the previous findings of psychologists and neuroscientists on this topic are classified and presented in an understandable way.”
Franziska Schubert in the Frankfurter Rundschau
“Konrad Lehmann, neurobiologist at the University of Jena, has written an extremely creative book about our creative brain.”
Larissa Tetsch in Laborjournal
“The question of the relationship between creativity and intelligence is one of the many exciting questions that Konrad Lehmann explores in this book. With seven book chapters, which are also designed as a search for clues with Commissario Prefrontale, the author offers an easy-to-understand insight into today's creativity research. Neurobiological correlations are also explained in detail.”
Ärzteblatt
Interview:
On March 25, 2019, WDR 5 broadcast the feature “Heureka! - Geistesblitze” by Karin Lamsfuß, for which she interviewed me a few weeks earlier. In it, she explores what you could call “life creativity”: How do people find the idea that helps them out of a life crisis or leads them onto a new, more suitable career path?
