Matthias Winkler, CEO of the SACHER Group, started his career as a trainee at McDonalds after studying political science at the University of Vienna. Further positions included press spokesman at the Federal Ministry of Finance, where he soon became Head of Cabinet, followed by his position as CCO at bwin with responsibility for business development and corporate communications, among other things. In 2011, he took over the management of Hotel Bristol, part of the SACHER Group, and finally, in 2014, overall responsibility for all SACHER businesses, including Hotel SACHER Vienna, Hotel SACHER Salzburg, Hotel Bristol Vienna, three SACHER cafés and the manufacture of the original SACHER cake. In addition to his professional career, Matthias Winkler has also served on the supervisory boards of ÖBB, Generali Versicherungen AG and Österreichische Lotterien. He has been Chairman of the Shareholders' Meeting of Wiener Kongresszentrum Hofburg BetriebsgesmbH since 2013 and was elected to the Executive Committee of "The Leading Hotels of the World" in 2016. With his deep insights into the "SACHER way" and his humorous and entertaining presentation style, he knows how to inspire people and take them along with him on his journey.
