Matthias Winkler, CEO of the SACHER Group, started his career as a trainee at McDonalds after completing his studies at the University of Vienna. His professional career took him to the Federal Ministry of Finance as press spokesman and head of cabinet. After seven successful years, he took over responsibility for business development and corporate communications as CCO at bwin. From there, his path led via his own consulting boutique to the management of the Hotel Bristol, part of the SACHER Group, in 2011. In 2014, Winkler took over overall responsibility for all SACHER businesses: the Hotel SACHER Vienna, the Hotel SACHER Salzburg, the Hotel BRISTOL Vienna, several SACHER cafés and restaurants, the manufacture of the original SACHER cake and several company investments. In addition to his professional career, Matthias Winkler has also been a member of the supervisory boards of ÖBB, Generali Versicherungen AG and Österreichische Lotterien. He has been Chairman of the Shareholders' Meeting of Wiener Kongresszentrum Hofburg BetriebsgesmbH since 2013 and was elected to the Executive Committee of “The Leading Hotels of the World” in 2016.
