When Michaela Gerg was eight years old, she decided to take part in the Olympic Games one day. The then still chubby girl's classmates shook with laughter. A few years later, no one was laughing anymore, as she was already one of the most successful German ski racers. Despite her early success, Michaela Gerg also had to overcome serious crises. The images of her crash landing in the fence are still in the minds of many TV viewers today - which makes it all the more remarkable how she fought her way back to the top again and again after serious falls. Over the course of her career, she finished in the top ten over 200 times - 41 of them in the top three. Four World Cup victories, World Championship bronze in the super-G and four Olympic appearances are on her list of successes. After her triumphant victory in the downhill race in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Gerg retired from the world of professional sport in 1996 and dedicated herself to new challenges. By training as a certified Feng Shui consultant, she qualified for her second dream job, which she pursued with enthusiasm after the hectic pace of the racing circus. She remained involved in skiing as a co-commentator for Eurosport and ZDF.
In her lecture “Get up or stay down”, Michaela Gerg talks about her eventful life as a ski racer and entrepreneur. She not only offers authentic insights into the glittering and often brutal world of the Alpine ski circus. Michaela also motivates her listeners to realize their own dreams and goals and shares tips and mental techniques for personal success.
