Vita

German journalist and TV presenter Monica Lierhaus has found her way back into the public eye after a serious stroke of fate and made a comeback. The red-haired Hamburg native, who was already passionate about soccer and the Bundesliga as a girl, lost consciousness following brain surgery in 2009. The prognosis was devastating. If she survives, it will be a life in a wheelchair - dependent and reliant on others. But Monica Lierhaus fought and continues to do so every day. The illness has changed her, made her into someone else. The core has remained: a fascinatingly strong woman who has never given up. In her talks and interviews, she provides very open and honest insights into the highs and lows of the past few years. Above all, however, her appearances and her book “Still Me: My Way Back to Life” encourage people to live a life full of goals and personal responsibility.

“Dear Ms. Lierhaus, I would like to thank my wife Elke as a relative and myself as an affected person (serious accident in November 2011, resulting in neurological deficits to this day) as well as the members of the Hamburg self-help group for people with acquired brain damage very much for your courageous appearance and disclosure of your “misfortune” and your path “back to life”, which is characterized by strong will and a sporting attitude! You give us courage! We wish you all the best - especially now!”

“Dear Monica Lierhaus, I was very impressed and moved by your book, and it is just as important for us who are on the 'other' side every day due to our profession (nursing). It is a real enrichment!”

“I think it's very important that celebrities like you go public with your deficits and clearly demonstrate to our society that you can be in the middle of life and be successful even with a handicap.”
