Peter Bofinger is one of the leading representatives of Keynesianism and is regarded as a rather unconventional economist who repeatedly speaks out on current economic policy issues. His demand-oriented theories, based on John Maynard Keynes, are often the basis for economic policy discussions. Prof. Bofinger is of the opinion that serious cyclical crises can occur in a market economy, which can only be overcome with an expansive monetary and fiscal policy. Peter Bofinger is committed to European integration and the euro. His emphasis on the export strength of the German economy and a book entitled “We are better than we think” are evidence of Bofinger's optimistic character. The optimism and humor can also be found in the lectures of this sought-after speaker. Prof. Peter Bofinger studied economics at the University of Saarbrücken. In 1990, he habilitated at Saarland University and became a research assistant on the staff of the German Council of Economic Experts. Since 1992, he has been a full professor of economics, money and international economic relations at the University of Würzburg. Prior to this, he spent several years on the staff of the German Council of Economic Experts and at the German Bundesbank.
