Ranga Yogeshwar, science journalist, physicist and television presenter, was born in Luxembourg, the son of an Indian engineer and a Luxembourg artist. He spent most of his early childhood in India. Ranga Yogeshwar studied physics ("Experimental Elementary Particle Physics and Astrophysics") at RWTH Aachen University and worked at the Swiss Institute for Nuclear Research (SIN), CERN in Geneva and the Jülich Research Center. The physicist joined Westdeutscher Rundfunk Cologne as an editor in 1987 and headed the science program group for several years. Since 2008, he has worked as an independent journalist and author. Yogeshwar has developed, produced and hosted numerous TV programs and is one of the best-known science journalists in Germany. His books are bestsellers and have been translated into several languages. Yogeshwar has received more than 60 professional awards and has been honored many times, including an honorary doctorate from the University of Wuppertal, the Federal Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Ordre de Mérite du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg.
