Reinhold Messner is a mountaineer, author, mountain farmer, conservationist, museum founder and adventurer. He has been one of the most successful mountaineers in the world for more than 20 years. Reinhold Messner started mountaineering in 1949 at the age of 5 and worked for a short time as a secondary school teacher after studying technology. Since 1969, he has undertaken more than a hundred trips to the mountains and deserts of the world and written three dozen books. During his expeditions, he has achieved many first ascents, climbed all 14 eight-thousanders without bottled oxygen and completed a longitudinal crossing of Greenland. For Messner, the psychological and physical experience of limits and self-awareness is at the heart of his expeditions. With his brilliant, metaphor-rich rhetoric and often polemical arguments, he helped mountaineering to achieve a media presence that was previously impossible. As an interview partner and commentator on TV, as well as a lecturer, he is sought after by mountaineers, tourism experts and business leaders worldwide.

Herbert A. Henzler, McKinsey & Company
"Enthusiasm is a clearer expression than the overused and misused word motivation. If you want to inspire others, you have to believe in yourself."
"Success comes from obsession and humility. Intuition is much less a part of it than is generally assumed. Not even genius."
"Pushing the boundaries means daring to do something you haven't done before. Putting something into practice that no one has ever done before. It depends more on your mental and spiritual abilities than on your brute strength."
