Shlomo Ben-Ami - Israeli Foreign Minister and Minister of Internal Security (1999-2001), expert in conflict resolution As Foreign Minister, Ben-Ami sought to advance the Middle East peace process through negotiations. He argued that Palestinian actions against Israel were motivated by the fact that it was a people under occupation fighting for its legitimate rights. He sought to reach an agreement based on respect, dignity and fairness that would bring rights to the Palestinians and security to Israel. In Israel, he supported measures to improve pensions, child care and education for the poor. With his profound knowledge as a history professor and his extensive experience in peace negotiations, Ben-Ami speaks very eloquently and knowledgeably about the implications of the ongoing Middle East peace process, as well as Israel's social and political history. His illuminating perspective will be of interest to all those concerned with Middle East instability and the future of Israel. He will speak about approaches to conflict resolution and how such principles apply in both business and political situations.
