He is one of Germany's best political speakers and is also highly regarded and very well networked internationally. He was Minister President of Lower Saxony from 1999 to 2003. He then held the office of Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety from 2005 - 2009, Federal Minister for Economics and Technology from 2013 - 2017, and most recently Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs from 2017 - 2018. Between 2013 and 2018, Sigmar Gabriel was Vice-Chancellor and from 2009 to 2017 he was the leader of the Social Democratic Party of Germany. He is a policy advisor and European affairs expert for the US consultancy Eurasia Group. Sigmar Gabriel is a brilliant speaker who is convincing and does not shy away from plain speaking. Lectureship at Harvard
In autumn 2018, Sigmar Gabriel spent three weeks at the elite Harvard University in the USA. There, as part of the John F. Kennedy Memorial Policy Fellow programme, he gave lectures, took part in conferences to discuss with students, academics and politicians.
